Review by hotel critic
Located in the serene Playa Grande, the Playa Grande Surf Camp is a nature lover's paradise. As an ecologist passionate about conservation, this eco-friendly accommodation exceeded my expectations. The lush surroundings and relaxed atmosphere provided a perfect setting to connect with nature and unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The hammocks and chill area by the little pool offered a tranquil space to soak in the beauty of the surroundings and enjoy the company of fellow travelers. The focus on early morning surf sessions perfectly aligned with my love for nature and adventure, allowing us to ride the waves and immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the ocean. The well-equipped kitchen was a pleasant surprise, giving us the option to cook our own meals and enjoy a cup of coffee before heading out for the day's adventures. The surf courses on-site were top-notch, with Eriksson's guidance making it possible for everyone to catch a wave even in their first lesson. The surfboard rental was convenient, allowing us to hit the waves at our own pace and savor the experience of morning and sunset surfing sessions. The abundance of animal visitors added a touch of whimsy to our stay, with blue birds, raccoons, and even a skunk making occasional appearances. The cozy cabana we stayed in was the perfect size for our small group, offering a comfortable retreat after a day of surfing and exploring the area. The cleanliness of the toilets and showers, maintained almost daily, added a touch of luxury to our nature-focused retreat.Playa Grande truly outshone Tamarindo in terms of its natural beauty and peaceful ambiance. The spacious beach and uncrowded waves provided the perfect backdrop for quiet walks and unforgettable sunsets. The dedication to protecting the local wildlife, especially the turtles, by keeping the beach dark at night, resonated deeply with my conservationist values. The friendly and helpful staff, including Justin, who made us feel at home and ensured our stay was memorable, added a personal touch to our experience. Their hospitality and genuine care for the environment and guests made our stay truly special.
